Who is MTL?
I am David Addison. MTL is my trading acronym at the CME Group (Chicago Board of Trade). Why did I choose MTL? Why not? It’s easy to say and remember.
I operate a trading desk on the Chicago Board of Trade’s trading floor. I trade for my own account, and my group here executes orders electronically and through open-outcry in the trading pits. My order team consists of several veteran traders and floor brokers
I started this blog because I think I can offer my readers a unique perspective into the capital and derivatives markets. Whereas there are literally thousands of blogs and websites that convey financial news and economic reports, and at least hundreds of blogs that offer technical analysis and trading strategies, there are very few that go any deeper.
My intent is to explore in-depth all subjects that relate to the markets (e.g., market theory, quantitative finance, derivatives on capital assets, and the market fundamentals). The reality is that derivatives are the fastest growing asset class on the planet, also the most misunderstood, and they are usually highly leveraged. Whether you approve of derivatives or not is immaterial. No one can deny the growing role they play in the markets and the economy at large.
When I had realized that this niche was largely vacant, I decided that my value-add might lie in providing analysis of these markets. To read up more on my analytical approach and philosophy, please visit “Our Philosophy”.

In addition to maintaining the main blog, which is my primary outlet for reporting and analysis, I also regularly update visitors on the most recent technical analysis in the right-hand column entitled “Trading Feed”. And finally, "Derivatives 101” is where I post essays and white papers on all topics relating to the markets, finance, and trading.
